Day 6 Lunch

A bit bummed about lunch because I realized too late that this vegan lentil wrap was made with a small amount of canola oil. :(

  1. Hi Son, I had a chance to read your weeks reports, seems like you are having good progress in your quest, I am glad you joined the Organics Produce home delivery plan, the veggies look great! I hope you have the chance to practice your favorite recipes, have you considered on juicing something you like? It will help taking some juices to the office, today we did carrot juice for us and for your grandma, and sometimes we mix a spoonful of Chia Seed for added fiber and omega 3 & 6 and seems this mixture really give us lots of energy, I would like to suggest trying other fruits like Papaya, Apples, Kiwi, Pineapple (not all together) we do morning smoothies and add a spoonful of Agave or Honey, (are these sweeteners OK?) On the cereal side we also like to prepare Whole Wheat berries, of 9 grain cereal mix, just to have some variety in the morning.
We are pleased to report that now that we have eliminated dairy and eggs we are feeling more alert and with more energy, thank you for your encouragement, Love Dad

    1. Hi Dad. I'm glad to hear that you're feeling some benefits from your new food choices. I definitely want to start juicing. I just need to find the right one at the right price. I would like to make my own orange juice. I would definitely try those fruits you suggested. A Juicer and new blender are on my list of things to get. Our current blender doesn't handle smoothies very well.

Dad, about agave, I've heard some negative things about agave, primarily because it is so high in fructose and it has as much nutritional value as processed sugar. I just came across this article on agave http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/07/02/Agave-A-Triumph-of-Marketing-over-Truth.aspx

A lot of what I've come across suggests that Date sugar is the healthiest sweetener option. Here is an article on the subject http://healthblog.swansonvitamins.com/blog/health-tips-2/why-date-sugar-might-be-the-best-sweetener--v5

And here is a video on you tube comparing a list of sweeteners and which is healthiest to use and why. http://youtu.be/EXeSoEgnXS4

The book I'm sending you shows how to make date paste and date syrup. I'll send you a picture of the recipes. I use date paste to sweeten my smoothies.
